Thigh lift

What Is a Thigh Lift?

Body lifts are body-contouring surgeries that may also be covered by public health insurance plans. These surgeries are indicated when the skin’s elasticity has diminished following significant weight loss. Redness and inflammation may develop in the existing skin folds, which may also require treatment by a dermatologist.

Occasionally, prior to a Thigh lift, a Liposuction be carried out.

Body-contouring surgeries can be indicated even when the firmness of the skin has decreased due to aging processes.

Information on the operation

A thigh lift removes excess skin and fatty tissue from the thighs. There are two techniques: the horizontal incision technique and the vertical incision technique. With the horizontal incision technique, an incision is made from the groin area to the gluteal fold, and skin and fatty tissue are removed parallel to the incision line. This procedure is only suitable for slim patients with moderate excess skin. With the vertical incision technique, incisions must be made in the groin area and on the inner thigh; otherwise, the excess skin and fat cannot be removed.

Hospital stay and anesthesia

Both procedures are performed under General anesthesia. Depending on the extent of the procedure, an inpatient stay may be necessary, which can last up to 7 days.
