The term “lip correction” encompasses several procedures designed to improve the shape, volume, or proportions of the lips—ranging from gentle hyaluronic acid injections to surgical lip lifts and procedures to reduce or enhance lip fullness. The goal is a natural, harmonious result that complements your face.
Which procedure is right depends on what needs to be changed. If volume is lacking, an injectable treatment with hyaluronic acid may be an option; it takes effect immediately but gradually breaks down and needs to be refreshed. If the distance between the nose and the upper lip is long or the vermilion is narrow, an injectable treatment will make little difference—in that case, a surgical lip lift, which provides permanent results, may be an option. Conversely, lips that are too full can be reduced in size. We perform injectable treatments at our Frankfurt practice and surgical procedures in Oberursel.

Lip augmentation is suitable for people who want fuller, more even, or more clearly defined lips—or who are bothered by too much space between their nose and upper lip. During a detailed consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and determine the most appropriate method.
| Aspect | Dermal Filler Injections (Hyaluronic Acid) | Lip Lift (Surgery) |
|---|---|---|
| Principle | Volume Enhancement with Filler | Shortening the Distance Between the Nose and Upper Lip |
| Anesthesia | Numbing cream / topical | Local Anesthesia or Twilight Sleep |
| Durability | Several months | Permanent |
| Downtime | Minimal | about 1 week |
During a consultation, we'll discuss your desired outcome and select the appropriate procedure. Depending on the method, the treatment may be non-surgical or involve a minor surgical procedure.
Lip Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid): In just a few minutes, hyaluronic acid is precisely injected using a numbing cream—for immediately visible, temporary volume. You’ll be ready to go out right away.
Lip Lift & Lip Reduction: Surgical procedures performed under local anesthesia or twilight sedation. A lip lift shortens the distance between the nose and the upper lip (revealing more of the red part of the lip, with permanent results); lip reduction surgery reduces the size of lips that are perceived as too full.
After an injection, mild swelling is normal and will subside within a few days. After surgical procedures, you will need to keep the sutures in for about 1–2 weeks; swelling and a feeling of tightness will subside during this time. You should avoid strenuous activity and sports for a few days.
Depending on the method used, swelling, bruising, or temporary numbness may occur. With injectable treatments, irregularities are rare and can usually be corrected; surgical procedures result in fine scars. We will discuss all risks with you in detail before treatment.
Cosmetic lip procedures are out-of-pocket services. The exact costs depend on the method chosen and the complexity of the procedure, and we will provide you with a quote after your individual consultation.
What's included?
Comprehensive consultation, treatment by experienced specialists, appropriate anesthesia, and—for surgical procedures—postoperative care.
The various lip procedures can be combined or tailored to one another. Dermal fillers are ideal for subtle changes, while surgical procedures are best for long-lasting results. We’d be happy to advise you on which approach is right for you.
It depends on your goal: Hyaluronic acid injections are ideal for adding volume without surgery; a lip lift is best for a more permanently defined upper lip; and lip reduction is recommended for lips that are too full. We’ll provide you with personalized advice.
Thanks to numbing cream and fine needles, the treatment is usually well tolerated; you may feel a slight sensation of pressure or a slight prick.
Usually several months. After that, it can be refreshed. Surgical procedures such as a lip lift are permanent.
