What does mons pubis lift, dermolipectomy mean?
Pubic mound lift or dermolipectomy
Body lifts are body contouring operations that may also be covered by statutory health insurance.
These operations are indicated if the elasticity of the skin has decreased after significant weight loss or pregnancy. A mons pubis lift may also be necessary if the fullness of the skin has decreased due to the ageing process. Redness and inflammation can develop in the existing skin folds, which may also need to be treated by a dermatologist.
Information on the operation
During a mons pubis lift, excess skin and fatty tissue is removed from the lower abdomen. The skin is tightened up to the pubic bone. Drains are inserted to drain off any secretions. These are left in place for approx. 2-4 days.
Hospital stay and anesthesia
Minor corrections can be performed on an outpatient basis under a gentle general anesthetic. In the case of significant weight reduction or existing obesity, surgery under inpatient conditions is advisable.
