Gynecomastia This is known as feminization of the male breast, characterized by an abnormal increase in size. The cause is an imbalance between free estrogens and androgens resulting from various factors. This leads to an increase in fatty tissue and an enlargement of the mammary gland tissue. Information on the surgical procedure
During the surgery, the fatty tissue surrounding the mammary gland is first suctioned out through a small skin incision, through which a drainage tube will later be inserted. This creates more harmonious transitions. After the breast fat tissue has been suctioned out, the mammary gland is exposed through a small, inconspicuous incision at the edge of the nipple. It can be removed very easily after the fat has been suctioned out. At the end of the procedure, a wound drain is inserted in each breast, which is removed after 1–2 days. A compression bandage is applied while the patient is still in the Operating room.
Hospital stay and anesthesia
Depending on the size of the breast, a hospital stay of 1–3 days is necessary. In cases of very small, unilateral findings, the surgery can also be performed on an outpatient basis. The surgery should be performed under General anesthesia.
