From April 26 to 29, 2016, the 133rd Congress of the German Society for Surgery took place in Berlin under the motto: „Surgery in the Conflict Zone of Technology, Ethics, and Economics.“ .
In many interesting lecture sessions, it became clear that technological progress has decisively improved surgical therapies and pushed the boundaries of what is feasible. Today's patients benefit from innovative developments, and advances in surgery and anesthesiology now safely guide patients through their operations.
From the field of plastic and aesthetic surgery, new developments in regenerative plastic surgery, such as free adipose tissue transfer, the treatment of the aged face, and body-contouring procedures after massive weight loss, were discussed, among other topics.
