From September 24 to 26, 2015, the annual congress of the German Society for Hand Surgery (DGH) took place in Ludwigsburg, together with the German Working Group for Hand Therapy (DAHTH).
During the 3-day congress, study results and innovations from the fields of hand malformations, nerve compression syndromes such as carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytren's disease, wrist and thumb saddle joint osteoarthritis, among others, were presented.
Accompanying this, interesting workshops took place where renowned national and international hand surgeons from the host country Italy reported on their experiences with complex hand disorders and the development of new treatment concepts based on anatomical studies.
During the discussions on the individual topics, there was a lively exchange with the hand surgery colleagues and the colleagues from DAHTH (hand therapists who treat functional disorders of the human hand as specially trained physiotherapists and occupational therapists).
Once again, it was a successful congress that enriched us with newly gained insights, which we will successfully use to optimize the treatment of our hand surgery patients.
