From September 22 to 24, 2016, the German-American Congress of Hand Surgeons took place in Frankfurt.
As the largest hand surgery society in Europe and the 3rd largest society worldwide, renowned international hand surgeons lectured on current treatment options for Dupuytren's disease, scaphoid fractures and their late sequelae, the surgical management of severe hand injuries, malignant hand tumors, etc. Practical topics were explored in depth during workshops and instructional courses.
The laudatory speech for the Buck-Gramcko Lecture was delivered by Professor Allen Bishop of the Mayo Clinic in honor of Professor William P. Cooney of Florida, who has rendered outstanding service to the science, education, and teaching of hand surgery. Professor Buck-Gramcko of Hamburg, one of the most renowned pioneers of hand surgery, was a mentor and role model for numerous colleagues from all over the world and created a life's work with his book on congenital hand malformations. Every year in his honor, the „Buck-Gramcko Lecture“ is presented as a special distinction.
