Supermicrosurgery

Supermicrosurgery is a new technique in microsurgery in which tiny vessels (e.g., arteries, veins, and lymphatic vessels) with a diameter of less than 1 mm are dissected and sutured. This method expands the surgical options for closing tissue defects resulting from accidents, tumors, or chronic wounds using free tissue transfer (free flap reconstruction). The prerequisites are the finest surgical instruments and high-resolution surgical microscopes, as well as extremely fine suture material.
