Tummy tuck

These procedures are indicated when skin elasticity has decreased following a pregnancy or significant weight loss. Redness and inflammation can develop in the existing skin folds, which may also require dermatological treatment.
Body-contouring surgeries can be indicated even when the firmness of the skin has decreased due to aging processes.
A tummy tuck can be combined with liposuction.
Information on the operation
During a tummy tuck, excess skin and fatty tissue below the navel are removed. The navel is cut around and left in place. The abdominal wall is detached upwards above the navel and then tightened down to the pubic bone. The navel is subsequently pulled through the abdominal wall and sutured in.
Drains are used to remove accumulated fluids. These are left in place for approximately 2-4 days.
In cases of minor excess skin, a tummy tuck can also be performed without repositioning the navel. In this procedure, excess skin and fatty tissue on the lower abdomen are removed, thereby tightening the stomach.
Hospital stay and anesthesia
Both procedures are performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the extent of the procedure, an inpatient stay of up to 7 days may be necessary.
