From March 21 to 24, 2017, the meeting took place in Munich 134th Congress of the German Society of Surgery with the main topics:
„Responsibility, Trust, Security.
Regarding risk management, interesting parallels were presented between medicine and airline safety training. Based on similar „human factors“ such as „teamwork, communication, and leadership,„ some of these projects have already been successfully integrated into the daily routines of several German hospitals.
News on the „digital revolution and transformation“ in surgery, quality management, the collaboration of cancer centers, and the updating of treatment standards were developed and presented by many dedicated working groups.
As in every year, the German Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (DGPRAEC) was once again represented by numerous members and speakers. In the session on regenerative autologous fat therapy, the possibilities and limitations of this therapy were demonstrated, inter alia, using current studies from Heidelberg and Erlangen.
During the poster presentation, Dr. Christina Luther presented an algorithm for improving patient safety on the topic of „Management Strategies in Outpatient Hand Surgery,“ which was very well received.
We look forward to an at least equally exciting congress next year in Berlin with the challenging theme:
Tradition, Innovation, Globalization!
